Early Bird Triathlon & Duathlon
Early Bird is a multisport event in Ottawa on May 16, 2026, organized by Somersault Events. The course runs along Colonel By Drive with views of the Rideau Canal, Carleton University, Dows Lake, and Lansdowne. Swim races take place in an indoor 50 m pool at Carleton University, making this the only in-pool triathlon in the region; pool capacity is limited and swim events may sell out.
Bike and run courses are closed to traffic during the event. A variety of race formats are offered, including triathlons, duathlons, swim-cycle, Try a Tri entries for ages 16 and up, and a youth Try a Tri for athletes 15 and under.
Included with registration are a free virtual bike fit, a Somersault swim cap, a personalized race bib, professional timing, on-course nutrition from XACT, race photography, podium prizes for the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers, post-race massage/chiro/physio, and post-race snacks. A finisher medal is available as an optional add-on subject to availability.
Important administrative dates and policies: shirt deadline April 3, medal deadline April 16, online registration deadline May 12 at 18:00. Refunds are only available if cancellation insurance was purchased. The event raises funds for Safe Families Canada - Ottawa and many race-day volunteers are affiliated with that organization. Strava files are available for the bike and run courses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
