About the race
The Pick n Pay Durban Sunrise Run takes place on 26 September 2026 at the Amphitheatre on the Durban beachfront in KwaZulu‑Natal. The event offers road race distances and is an official KZN Athletics sanctioned race.
Distances offered:
- 10 km (minimum age 14 years)
- 21 km (minimum age 16 years)
- 42 km 2 laps (minimum age 20 years)
The 42 km event is a Comrades Marathon qualifier for the 2027 Comrades Marathon. The race introduces a new start venue at the Amphitheatre and a revised race route. Registration is available in person at Southern Sun Garden Court on Snell Parade on Friday 25 September and on race day at the start area. The first 2 000 paid entries receive a Pick n Pay goodie bag and a pair of custom race sox.
Entry fees vary by period with early bird, standard and late pricing tiers. Prize money totals R25 000 and cash prizes are allocated across the 10 km, 21 km and 42 km categories, including age-group awards. The event is hosted by DHS Old Boys in partnership with B-Active Events and lists online entries with event timing through Entry Ninja.
