Durban International Marathon : 42.2 km
The Durban International Marathon is a road race centred on a full marathon distance of 42.2 km. The course starts on Prospecton Road and finishes at the Moses Mabhida Stadium People’s Tunnel. Route maps, a route profile and GPS data are published for the course.
The event sets a six-hour cutoff for the marathon. Entry is restricted to licensed athletes only; a licensed athlete is one who is registered with a KZN Athletics affiliated club and holds a 2026 permanent licence. A temporary licence fee applies to elite or international athletes. Anyone aged 20 years and older is eligible to enter, subject to the licensing requirement.
Entries are handled in phased online periods, with different local and international fees listed for early-bird, phase and late entry windows. Entry options include online registration from September 2026 and manual entries at Pick n Pay stores. Race pack collection and late-entry points are organised in Pietermaritzburg (Msunduzi Athletics Stadium) and in Durban (The Globe, Suncoast Casino, Suncoast Boulevard) on dates before the race.
A shuttle service is offered at a set cost to transport athletes to the start area; pick-up is organised from Kings Park Swimming Pool.
