Durango Marathon Weekend
The Durango Marathon weekend includes road races in Durango, Colorado, starting and finishing at Santa Rita Park along the Animas River Trail. The event program features multiple distances:
- 26.2 Miles Marathon
- 13.1 Miles Half Marathon
- 5 Kilometers 5K on the Animas River Trail
The marathon and half marathon courses climb through the eastern side of Durango, pass Fort Lewis College, and continue north along County Road 250 before returning to town and finishing on the Animas River Trail. The course elevations range approximately 6,400 to 6,900 feet; the route begins near 6,500 feet and reaches nearly 6,900 feet before descending back toward town. The 5K is an out-and-back on the Animas River Trail and is nearly flat.
Aid stations for the marathon and half marathon are located approximately every 3 to 5 miles and provide water, an electrolyte drink, and a mix of sweet and salty snacks; turnaround aid stations also include restroom facilities. The 5K has one aid station at the 1.5 mile turnaround offering water and an electrolyte drink, with snacks available at the finish area.
Published entry fees for each distance are $115 for the marathon, $75 for the half marathon, and $20 for the 5K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
