Duff Dog Backyard Ultra - Luverne, MN
The Duff Dog Backyard Ultra is a backyard ultra event held at Blue Mounds State Park near Luverne, MN. The course uses the park's established trail system and is mostly natural surface: about 4 miles 880 feet per loop (metric equivalent 6.7056 kilometers), with roughly 95% grass, some gravel, and a short paved section.
The runner support area includes shade and a shelter building. There is nearby camping available just off the course for family and friends during the event.
The event follows standard backyard ultra rules. Each loop must be completed within one hour to count. Loops start precisely one hour apart; warnings are given 3, 2, and 1 minute before each start and all competitors must begin at the bell. Competitors may not leave the course during a loop except to use restrooms. No personal aid is allowed during a loop, though common aid stations are permitted. Artificial aids, including trekking poles, are not allowed. Non-competitors are not permitted on the course and slower runners must allow passes.
Timing of loops is optional. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; all others are recorded by distance covered. The race is open ended. Registration closes Fri, Oct 9 at 11:59 PM CT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
