About the race
The Dromtrasna Challenge is an annual charity running and walking event held in Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick, with start and finish at Dromtrasna National School. The event offers multiple distances and options to suit families and competitive participants, with chip timing used for the competitive runs and finisher medals awarded to all participants. Routes run through the West Limerick countryside on mixed road terrain with a combination of downhill, flat sections, and some hills. Water stations are positioned on the main running routes, and hot food and refreshments are served at the school after the event. All routes are stewarded from start to finish.

- 10K Run, chip-timed
- 5K Run, chip-timed
- 4K Walk, buggy and dog friendly
- 2K Kids Run, supervised route
Proceeds support the Milford Care Centre and other local healthcare services. The event has a community focus, involving local sponsors and volunteers, and has taken place annually since 2014. Past fundraising totals include €34,145.63 raised in 2025, with proceeds directed to local palliative care and community hospital support.
