Event overview
Dragonfly Challenge is a six-hour running event organised by Big Bear Events on 29 April 2026 at Pooley Country Park, Tamworth, B78 1JA. Entrants must be aged 16 or over on the event date. The format allows participants to complete as many laps as they wish within a six-hour time limit; one lap can be completed in about 20 minutes, and longer distances are achieved by repeating laps.
Course and facilities
The route is a mixture of open grassland and parkland pathways. It is mostly flat with a noticeable climb to the Golden Tower of Leaves. The site is a former coal mine and contains several ponds. On-site facilities include parking (charges up to £3.50), a cafe and a toilet block near the event HQ. A GPX of the route is available and the course may be subject to last-minute changes; route markings will be used on the day.
Distances, entry and extras
The lap length is 3.3-mile, so a half marathon equals four laps and a marathon equals eight laps. Entry fees are tiered; examples given are £37 before 28/03/2026 and £42 after that date, with unaffiliated entrants charged an extra £2. Medals are provided or, as an alternative, a tree token is available through a partnership that will fund tree planting and include wildflower seeds. Rucking is permitted. Dogs are not allowed. The event has a partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity for optional fundraising. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
