Downtown Visalia Kiwanis 0.5K Donut Run/Walk and Shoe Fling
The event is a short community run and walk held at Mooney Grove Park next to the Tulare County Museum in Visalia. The main distance is 0.5K, described as half a kilometer; the organizer also notes equivalents such as one lap plus 180 feet on a standard track, about 546.8 yards or 1,640 feet. The event is presented as a lighthearted alternative to longer races.
There are separate entry categories for adults, youth under 18, and kids 10 years old and younger. Kids 10 and under may participate free without a T shirt; youth registration includes a T shirt. Strollers are welcome.
An aid station sponsored by Denny's is placed at the halfway mark and will offer items such as a donut hole, coffee, or juice. All finishers receive a donut and a first place medal. Proceeds from the event benefit Kiwanis projects that serve children in the community.
Additional activities include a Best Dressed Donut costume award and a Brown's Shoe Fit Shoe Fling competition held after the run or walk, with divisions for adults, youth under 18, and kids 10 and under.
