Downingtown Good Neighbor Day - Firetrucks and Fireworks
Downingtown Good Neighbor Day is an all-day community event held at Kerr Park in Downingtown, PA. The event benefits the fire and rescue squads within the Downingtown Area School District and typically draws about 2,000 athletes. The program includes running and walking events, food vendors, around 80–100 craft exhibitors, and a variety of scheduled activities, with a fireworks grand finale at dusk.
Participant provisions and awards are specified for multiple events: GND T-shirts for registered runners and walkers, a commemorative 250th medal for all runners, medals for the top three male and female finishers in each category, and a $100 prize for the top male and top female runners. The Kids K awards medals and t-shirts to all finishers. Entry fees are non-refundable. Runner bib and T-shirt pick-up is organized at the gazebo in Kerr Park on July 3 and July 4.
The day also features a 7-mile canoe and kayak challenge down the Brandywine River to Stroud Preserve with a bus return provided by Krapf's, a cornhole tournament limited to 32 teams with cash prizes, and children's events including a 1K fun run and a Big Wheel race for ages 2 to 10.
