Event overview
The Dovedale Big Daddy is a category AL fell race held on 1 February 2026 in the Peak District, England. The route covers 20.4 km (12.7 miles) with 1370 m (4495 ft) of ascent and includes nine steep climbs and descents around the Manifold and Dovedale valleys. The event is organised by Wainwright Running Ltd and licensed by the Fell Runners Association with associated insurance.
Entry, logistics and rules
Pre-entry is required; entries close 29 January 2026 and the event has a maximum capacity of 250 runners. Minimum age is 18. Entry fees are listed as FRA member £20.00 and non-member £22.00. Teams are permitted. Full FRA kit is required and the race is governed by FRA rules; the use of poles is not allowed.
Registration is at Ilam Primary School, DE6 2AZ. Parking is available at the National Trust car park at Ilam Park (pay and display), about a five minute walk from registration. Public toilets are available at Ilam Hall and there are limited toilets at registration. Post-race provisions include soup, cake and a hot drink.
