Dovedale Big Daddy : event overview
Dovedale Big Daddy is a Category AL fell race held on 1 February 2026 at Ilam Primary School, DE6 2AZ. The course covers 20.4 km with approximately 1370 m of ascent. The route includes nine steep climbs and descents and runs around the Manifold and Dovedale valleys. The race is licensed by the Fell Runners Association (FRA). Full FRA kit is required and the use of poles is not allowed. Course records are 02:03:45 (male, 2025) and 02:23:13 (female, 2025).
Entry, logistics and facilities
Entries open 1 July 2025 and close 29 January 2026. Minimum age is 18 and maximum field capacity is 250 runners; there were 146 entries at the time of listing. Entry fees are £20.00 for FRA members and £22.00 for non-members. Registration takes place at Ilam Primary School; limited toilets are available at registration and public toilets are at Ilam Hall. Parking is available at the National Trust car park at Ilam Park (pay and display), about a five-minute walk to registration. After the race, soup, cake and a hot drink are included for all runners.
