Event Overview
The Donut Duathlon is held at the Torbay Velopark and features a course that is entirely traffic-free. The event utilizes the smooth tarmac of the Velopark for the cycling leg and flat parkland areas for the running segments. Each race follows a run-bike-run format, starting with a flat run, moving to the cycle circuit, and concluding with a shorter final run.
Race Categories
A variety of distances are available to accommodate different age groups and experience levels:
- Sprint: 5 km run, 19.5 km cycle, and 2.5 km run.
- Supersprint: 2.5 km run, 9 km cycle, and 1.25 km run.
- TriStar 3: 2.5 km run, 7.5 km cycle, and 1.25 km run.
- TriStar 1 & 2: 1.25 km run, 6 km cycle, and 625 m run.
- TriStar Start and Mini Duathlon: 625 m run, 1.5 km cycle, and 200 m run.
Technical Details and Participation
The event is open to participants starting from age 3. For the mini duathlon specifically for children under 8, parents may run alongside participants and assist with bikes or scooters in the transition area. The cycling portion is non-drafting, and various types of roadworthy bicycles are permitted, including mountain bikes, hybrids, road bikes, and TT or triathlon bikes.
Location and Finish
The event is located at the Torbay Velopark (TQ4 5JR), with parking available at the main leisure centre. All finishers across all race categories receive a medal and a donut upon completion of their event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
