Dog Days Run Walk
Dog Days Run Walk is a community running and walking event in Kamper Park, 107 S 17th Avenue, Hattiesburg. It raises funds for the Mississippi Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association to support training and education related to Jill’s Law and access to advanced testing and treatments.
Routes start and finish at Kamper Park and run through the Avenues of Hattiesburg neighborhood with shaded paths. Amenities at the finish include a Finish Line Festival with vendors, refreshments, entertainment, door prizes, a Run-by Dog Pageant, and breakfast provided by Topher's. All finishers receive a custom finisher medal. Registered participants may receive a limited edition event t shirt if they register before the announced cut off date.
Distances offered:
- 5 miles, runners and walkers without dogs
- 5K, runners and walkers with or without dogs
- 2 miles, runners and walkers with or without dogs
- Virtual option, choose 2 miles, a 5K, or 5 miles; virtual packages mailed June 18
Dog rules note that dogs are not permitted in the 5 mile event. Dogs must be vaccinated and on fixed leashes; no retractable leashes. Water stations are provided on the 2 mile and 5K routes. Packet pick up is available Friday 4:30 to 7:00 pm at Keg and Barrel and Saturday 6:00 to 7:00 am at Kamper Park. Prizes are awarded to top finishers and for Run-by Dog Pageant categories.
