Dog Days Run Walk
Dog Days Run Walk is a multi-distance running and walking event at Kamper Park, 107 S 17th Avenue, Hattiesburg. The event supports the Mississippi Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and raises funds for training and education related to Jill’s Law and expanded access to advanced testing and treatment.
Routes start and finish at Kamper Park and pass through the Avenues of Hattiesburg, with volunteers positioned along the course. Amenities include water stations on the pup-friendly routes, finisher medals for all participants, a Finish Line Festival with vendors and refreshments, and limited edition event t-shirts for those registered before the cutoff date.
Distances and formats:
- 5 miles: race for runners and walkers without dogs.
- 5K: run or walk; runners and walkers with or without dogs.
- 2 miles: run or walk; runners and walkers with or without dogs.
- Virtual: choose 2 miles, a 5K, or 5 miles; package mailed June 18.
Dog policies note that dogs must be vaccinated and leashed with fixed leashes; no retractable leashes. The 2 mile and 5K routes are pup-friendly and include water stations. Additional event elements include a Run-by Dog Pageant with multiple prize categories, breakfast service on race day, packet pickup locations and times, and race timing provided by MS Race Timing.
