Dog Days Run Walk
Dog Days Run Walk is a community running and walking event in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, that supports Hub City Service Dogs, a nonprofit that trains service dogs for people with medical disabilities. All routes start and finish at Kamper Park (107 S 17th Avenue).
Distances offered:
- 5 Miles for runners and walkers without dogs.
- 5K open to runners and walkers with or without dogs.
- 2 Miles open to runners and walkers with or without dogs. A virtual option allows participants to complete 2 miles, a 5K, or 5 miles remotely; virtual packages are mailed on June 18th.
The 5K and 2 Mile courses are pup-friendly and include water stations. Canine participants must be vaccinated and kept on fixed leashes; retractable leashes are not permitted. Organizers advise attention to canine conditioning and heat-related comfort.

The event features a Run-by Dog Pageant judged by local personalities, with categories such as Coolest Dog, Best Dressed, Best Parent/Pooch Pair, Tiny Tot, Super Dog, Diva Dog, and Most Handsome Hound.
All finishers receive custom finisher medals. A limited edition event t-shirt is available for participants who register before the announced cutoff date. Packet pick up is available at Keg and Barrel (1315 Hardy Street) and at Kamper Park near the start line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
