Do Hard Things Shamruck & Run Backyard Ultra
The event takes place on March 13, 2027 at Cooper’s Landing in Columbia, Missouri. It is a backyard ultra with separate running and weighted rucking divisions conducted in a last-person-standing format.
A new loop begins each hour and participants must complete their division’s loop within the hour and be ready to start the next loop. The event continues until one participant remains in each division; there is no preset finishing time.
Divisions and distances:
- Running: 4.167-mile loop per hour, roughly 100 miles over 24 loops.
- Rucking: 2.6-mile loop per hour, roughly 100 kilometers over 24 loops. Minimum ruck weights are 20 pounds for women and 30 pounds for men; participants supply their own ruck and required weight.
Registration and fees are listed with a registration fee of $100. Registration opens October 21, 2026 and closes January 1, 2027. The registration entry includes course access and hourly lap tracking.
Participants contribute one dollar to the race jar before each loop. Half of each division’s jar goes to the last-person-standing winner and the other half is donated to the veterans organization Welcome Veterans. Awards and participant swag are provided, with recognition for the last person standing and men’s and women’s winners.
Participants should plan to be self-supported between loops and may use Cooper’s Landing amenities according to venue policies. Recommended items include food, hydration, extra layers, spare socks, foot care supplies, a chair or shelter, and lighting for after dark.
