DMACC 5K Walk/Run
The DMACC 5K Walk/Run is an annual community event held at the DMACC Ankeny Campus. The race takes place on a certified route and is open to the general public. Participants can choose between several activities:
- 5K Walk/Run
- Kids Fun Run (50 yards or 100 yards)
The 5K Walk/Run route utilizes the campus grounds, with the starting point located at Parking Lot L2. Registered participants in the 5K category receive a registrant bag, a unisex dri-fit Brooks shirt, a finisher medal, and a breakfast burrito. Prizes are awarded to the top male and female finishers in various age categories, ranging from 14 and under to 70 and over.
The Kids Fun Run is designed for younger participants, with suggested distances of 50 yards for ages 3-4 and 100 yards for ages 5-7. Children are permitted to participate in the distance that best suits their development and comfort. All participants in the kids' event receive a medal and entrance to the Fun Zone activity area following their run.
Logistical accommodations are provided for families and pet owners, as strollers and leashed, well-socialized dogs are permitted to participate and will start at the back of the field. Packet pick-up is scheduled for the Friday prior to the race at the Trail Point Aquatics and Wellness Center, or on the morning of the event at the registration table.
