Divot Dash Fore the Cause 5K Run/Walk
The third annual Divot Dash Fore the Cause is a 5K run/walk held at Green Oaks Golf Course in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The course is fully enclosed and set on natural surfaces; participants will pass fairways, bunkers, ponds and greens and should expect uneven terrain consistent with a golf course. Golfers will not be on the course at the same time as runners.
The event serves as the main fundraiser for a scholarship fund established by the township to expand youth recreation access. The need based scholarship helps children up to age 17 by offering reduced rates for recreation classes and leagues, with eligible recipients receiving 50% off registration fees and up to $250 in aid per child per calendar year.
Timing is provided by A2 Race Management. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each age category, with age group breakdowns dependent on registration numbers. The event is held rain or shine. A DJ will be on site for a post-event celebration, and cider and donuts will be available in the finishing area. Registration fees vary by date: $25 through August 15, $30 August 16 through September 20, and $35 after September 20.
