Disability Awareness : Val Nora 5K and 2K Run Walk Roll
This event is a community run, walk, and roll in Evanston organized to support Over The Rainbow and its resident services. It includes timed races for both a 5K and a 2K distance, and race registration includes a t-shirt, bib, and festival tickets for on-site festivities.
The course follows the North Shore Channel Trail along McCormick Boulevard and the Canal and starts and finishes at the Hill Arboretum (OTR) located at 2040 Brown Avenue in Evanston, Illinois. After the races, an on-site festival features food trucks, treats, music, and other activities at the same venue.
Proceeds from the event support programs that provide life skills, community programs, and opportunities for independence for adults with physical disabilities. The event honors the legacy of Val Nora during Disability Awareness Month and is presented as inclusive of participants of varying abilities.
Virtual participation is available; virtual entrants may complete a 5K or 2K between July 12 and July 18 and receive race SWAG by mail. Pre-race packet pick up is available at the Hill Arboretum prior to the event, and race-day packet pick up is offered at the venue.
