Disability Awareness : Val Nora 5K and 2K Run/Walk/Roll
The event is a community run, walk, and roll held at Hill Arboretum, 2040 Brown Avenue, Evanston, IL. It includes a food truck festival and a family activity area with a DJ, face painting, balloon twisting, and opportunities to meet players from the Northwestern men's and women's basketball teams. The event honors Disability Pride Month and supports residents of Over The Rainbow, a nonprofit that provides accessible housing and services for adults with physical disabilities.
Two course options are offered:
- 5K run/walk/roll
- 2K run/walk/roll
Registration packages vary and may include a race bib, a T-shirt, and one or more festival tickets (each festival ticket equals one meal, drink, or treat; beer and spritzers count as two tickets). A support option is available that provides additional festival tickets and recognition on the event website to help cover costs for residents. A virtual participation option allows participants to complete the 5K or 2K between July 12 and July 18, 2026; race swag for virtual participants is scheduled to be shipped the week of July 12. Fundraising for Over The Rainbow is part of the event; the campaign shows partial progress toward its stated goal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
