The Dirty Secret Trail Run takes place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Cool, CA. The event is the first race in a 2026 three-part trail series. Start and finish are at Northside Elementary School, 860 Cave Valley Rd., Cool, CA 95614. The field is limited to 600 participants.
Course and logistics
Distances offered:
- 5.8 miles (short course)
- 10.3 miles (long course)
Both courses use single-track trails through meadows and rolling hills and include a creek crossing. The route features rocks, roots, some low tree branches, and a significant climb out of Knickerbocker Creek that is part of both courses. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Fleet Feet, 2311 J Street, Sacramento, CA; friends may pick up a packet for a participant.
All entry fees are non-refundable and entries are non-transferable. If the course must be changed or the race cancelled due to an act of nature, there are no refunds or rollovers. Race swag includes a tech shirt, a custom finisher medal, and a strawberry pancake breakfast following the race. Registration opens January 12, 2026.
