Dirty German
Dirty German is a trail ultrarunning event held at Pennypack Park in Philadelphia on May 9, 2026. It features looped courses on a mostly runnable figure-8 route that mixes smooth single track, wider gravel paths, short climbs, soft sandy spots near the creek, and about one mile of paved bike trail each loop. The course is well marked and not highly technical.
Races offered:
- 25K one loop of the Pennypack course
- 50K two loops of the figure-8 course
- 50 Mile three loops plus a one-mile dog leg each lap with a 12.5 hour time limit
Aid stations are staffed by local ultra-runners and provide a variety of food and drink, including German-style offerings such as pretzels, plus PB&J, grilled cheese, fresh fruit, bacon and potatoes, Gatorade and soda. The event includes a post-race party with food, live music, and a festival atmosphere where runners and clubs set up tents and pavilions.
Awards include authentic German cuckoo clocks for overall male and female winners and traditional German Weather Houses for top age-group finishers. Every entrant receives a form-fitting quarter zip performance top and a commemorative bib. Refunds and deferrals are processed up to 30 days before race day; bib transfers are permitted up to seven days before the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
