Dirty German Endurance Fest : Pennypack Park, Philadelphia
The Dirty German Endurance Fest is an urban ultramarathon held inside Pennypack Park in Philadelphia along Pennypack Creek. The event uses a figure eight loop that is mostly single track with some wider flat gravel sections, occasional sandy spots, and about one mile of paved bike trail per loop. The course is mostly shaded and includes short climbs; one loop measures 25K.
Distances offered:
- 25K one loop of the 25K course
- 50K two loops of the 25K course
- 50 Miler three loops plus an extra 1 mile dog leg each loop
The 50 mile race has a firm time limit of 12 hours 30 minutes; the park closes at 9 PM and runners must start their final loop no later than 4 PM. Registration follows tiered entry fees by date. Refunds are available up to 30 days before race day; after that there are no refunds or deferrals. Organizers reserve the right to cancel or postpone the race for reasons outside their control.
Finish area activities commonly include music, prepared post-race food from professional chefs, and a social area where many runners bring pop-up tents and chairs. Awards include an overall male and female prize of an authentic German cuckoo clock and age-group awards presented as traditional German weather houses.
