About the race
The Dirty Bird is an annual trail race held February 7, 2027 at French Creek State Park, Elverson, Pennsylvania. The event is a 10 mile off road course that begins with a short road section before entering rolling trail terrain. The course surface is described as about 80% rocky trail, 17% dirt road and 3% paved road. The route includes three main hills spaced along the course and several long sections where runners can open up their pace.
The large loop used for most of the course was run in a new direction last year and will be kept in that direction for 2027. Registration is online only and remains open until midnight on the Wednesday of race week; a nominal service fee applies. Race day registration is located near the playground and boat launch by the ranger station but cellular and internet service in the park is limited, and the event accepts cash or check on site. Shirt and no shirt entry options are offered with different fees and a limited supply of extra shirts. Course support and amenities include two water stops, heated bathrooms near registration, ample parking near the registration area, instant results and awards.
The organizer may adjust the course or postpone the event in extreme weather or to protect park trails. Teens may enter only with a parent or legal guardian present. Pets are permitted under specified leash and placement rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
