Paynetown State Recreation Area : April 4, 2026
The event takes place at Paynetown State Recreation Area, 4850 State Hwy 446, Bloomington, IN 47401. Race day is Saturday, April 4, 2026. Online registration closes Wednesday, April 1 at midnight. GPX course files are provided for both distances. Difficulty is rated Hills 4 / Surface 4 (1 = easy, 5 = difficult).
Course and distances
- 15K - single-lap course on the Pate Hollow Trail through Hoosier National Forest.
- 5K - shorter trail route on the same venue.
Maps are provided and the organizer notes map distances may vary with the mapping apps used; participants should follow course markings.
Entry, fees and rules
Entry fees are listed as: 5K = $30; 15K = $35; day-of entry adds $10 or more; the kids race is free. A standard DNR gate fee of $7 per vehicle ($9 out-of-state) may be charged. An Annual Entrance Permit for Indiana residents is listed at $50.
Race rules include keeping the race number visible on the front, following marked trails, no short cutting, courteous communication when passing, and no headphones or dogs. If a runner drops out, they should notify the finish area. There is no strict time limit, but times over 2 1/4 hours may affect awards and services.
Awards: overall top three in each distance receive medals; top three in each age category also receive medals. Age groups are 0-9; 10-12; 13-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80+.
No refunds are offered. Transfers and postponement or cancellation policies are subject to organizer conditions; a $20 fee applies for transfers to another participant. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
