Dim Sum and Then Some The Uptown 5K/10K and Kids Dash
Dim Sum and Then Some is a community running event in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago at 1016 W Argyle St. The event includes in-person 5K and 10K races, a Kids Dash, and virtual 5K and 10K options that can be completed anywhere. Participants receive a Year of the Horse race shirt, a horse inspired finisher medal, a race bib, bubble tea, and dim sum.
The event incorporates cultural elements at the start and finish. A traditional Lao blessing ceremony with a string tied around participants wrists is held before the run, and lion dancers perform at the start. After the course, a block party features dim sum, bubble tea, and cultural performances by youth dance groups.
Pre-race packet pick-up is available on the Thursday and Friday before the event at designated locations in Chicago, with race day packet pick-up available for a fee of $5.00 per packet per paid participant. Registration opens February 18, 2026 and closes April 27, 2026. Event registration fees listed by the organizer include $52.00 for the 10K, $45.00 for the 5K, $20.00 for the Kids Dash, and $45.00 for virtual entries.
Proceeds benefit the Chinese Mutual Aid Association, a 501(c)(3) social services agency that supports low-income immigrant and refugee communities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
