Dim Sum and Then Some: The Uptown 5K/10K and Kids Dash
Dim Sum and Then Some is a community race and fundraiser in Uptown Chicago on August 1, 2026. Organized by the Chinese Mutual Aid Association, proceeds support low-income immigrants, refugees, and other community members through CMAA's programs.

The event combines running with cultural activities. At the start, participants receive a traditional Lao blessing ceremony that includes a string tied to the wrist, and lion dancers perform to mark the beginning of the race. The course passes historic Uptown attractions and continues along the Chicago lakefront. After the finish, a block party features dim sum, bubble tea, and cultural performances by CMAA's youth dance groups. Registered participants receive a Year of the Horse race shirt, a horse inspired finisher medal, a race bib, bubble tea, and dim sum.
Pre-race packet pick-up is available Friday, July 31 at Fleet Feet Lincoln Square, 4762 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL, with specified pickup hours. Race day packet pick-up is available for a fee per packet. Virtual entries may be completed anywhere and at any time.
