The Dia de los Muertos Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk takes place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Yokuts Park in Bakersfield, California. The event celebrates the Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday focused on honoring and celebrating the lives of those who have passed away.

The event offers a variety of amenities. These include unique medals and hoodies for participants who register by October 5th, with shirts available for later registrants. Other offerings are a commemorative coffee mug, an event goodie bag, Dia de los Muertos pan dulce, and tacos and hot chocolate for participants.
A Dia de los Muertos altar is present, and there are performances by folklorico dancers. The race is chip-timed, and there is music. Age group awards are given for both the 5K and the Half Marathon. The top male and female finisher in the half marathon receives a $100 cash prize, and the top 10 overall in the half marathon receive a 30 oz coffee tumbler.
The course is described as flat and fast.
Registration and Logistics
