About the race
The Dia de Los Muertos Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk takes place on October 24, 2026, at Yokuts Park in Bakersfield, California. The event includes a Half Marathon, a 5K Run/Walk, a 2 Mile Walk, and Kids Fun Runs for various age groups. It is described as a celebration of the Day of the Dead holiday, which honors loved ones who have passed away.
The event features a community altar, folklorico dancing, music, and a flat course. Participants can receive a unique medal, a hoodie (for those registered by October 5th), a coffee mug (for those registered by October 5th), and a goodie bag. Awards are given for age groups in both the 5K and Half Marathon. The first male and female finishers in the Half Marathon receive $100.
The top 10 overall Half Marathon finishers get a 30 oz coffee tumbler. Event amenities include tacos, hot chocolate, and a chipped timed event.
