Event Overview
Devil's Gulch is a trail running event held in the eastern Cascades near Wenatchee, Washington. The course is situated within Ponderosa pine forests and features a variety of terrain, including rocky, technical single-track paths, smooth forest trails, and sections of forest service road. Participants travel through diverse ecosystems and reach high ridgelines that provide views of the Enchantment Plateau, the Cascade mountain range, and regional volcanoes.
The event is hosted at the Mission Ridge Ski and Snowboard Resort, which serves as the start and finish location for the various distances. The environment is known for its high elevation gain and warm summer temperatures.
Distance Options
Participants can choose from several distance categories:
- 100 Miler: A single loop with over 20,000 feet of elevation gain and a 39-hour cutoff.
- 50 Miler: A loop featuring approximately 11,000 feet of elevation gain and multiple creek crossings.
- Half Marathon: A single loop starting at the resort with roughly 2,500 feet of gain.
- Kids Race: a shorter event for younger participants.
Course Details
The longer courses ascend to the summits of Mission Peak and Mt. Lillian, following Tronsen Ridge for 360-degree views. The 100 Miler extends to Number 2 Canyon and Horse Lake Mountain, while the 50 Miler returns via a long climb through Devil's Gulch. The half marathon course stays closer to the resort area while still reaching scenic viewpoints.
Participant Information
Finisher awards vary by distance; 100 Miler finishers receive a belt buckle, while 50 Miler runners receive a hand-crafted award. All participants in the three main distances receive a shirt and access to post-race food and drinks at the resort. Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in all gender categories.
