Devil's Chair Dash or Dawdle
The Devil's Chair Dash or Dawdle is an annual Boxing Day fell event based at the Stiperstones Inn, near Minsterley, Shropshire (SY5 0LZ, GR 005365). It is described as the oldest annual fell race in Shropshire and one of the UK’s largest participation events on Boxing Day.
The course covers 4.8 km / 3 mi with 244 m / 801 ft of climb. The route is partially marked and limited experience is required. The minimum age for participants is over 12. Teams may enter free. Recorded best times include 20:46 (male record, 2006) and 24:06 (female record, 2022).
Online entries are required for those who want recorded times; walkers, supporters and family are welcome. Hot soup and sandwiches are provided for all. Parking is limited at the venue so car sharing is encouraged. Entry fees are listed as £5 or £10 for families, with payment options noted as online entry and pay on the day.
