Dawdle or Dash
Dawdle or Dash is a Boxing Day event held at the Stiperstones Inn with a 5K up-and-back course that reaches the summit at the Devil's Chair. The course combines tarmac, rough track, a steep slippy grass slope and a very rocky ridge trail to the summit.
Online entries open on 1 November. Organisers charge entry fees of £5 for individuals and £10 for families, and they do not take payment until participants sign in on the day. Online registration is recommended for anyone who wants a recorded time on the official results; organisers discourage same-day entry because it disrupts the results system.
The event is run under the Welsh Fell Runners Association and receives support from the local club Merci. All younger children on the hill must be supervised. Spectators and supporters are welcome; soup and sandwiches are available and donations may be placed in collection boxes. Dogs and young children should be kept clear of faster descending runners for safety.
Past results are maintained for previous years. The organisers note that recent seasonal conditions include limited bracken and no fires the previous summer, and that autumn winds have affected trees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
