About the race

The OFFICIAL (Unofficial) Detroit Free Press Shakeout Run takes place on October 14, 2026 at Atwater Brewery in Detroit. The event is hosted by Fleet Feet & ASICS and is presented as a community shakeout run during Detroit Free Press Marathon Race Weekend.

Participants may choose between the following route options:

5-mile

There will be an opportunity to wear-test ASICS running shoes during the event. The first 150 registrants who include a beverage in their registration will receive a complimentary post-run beverage from ASICS, limited to beer or soft drink. Alcohol is available only to participants 21 years or older and valid photo ID will be required.

Night running safety gear is required for participation; examples include a headlamp, reflective vest, or light belt. Registration for the event is free. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
