International Half Marathon
The International Half Marathon is part of the Detroit Free Press Marathon weekend and is scheduled for Oct. 18, 2026. The event status is listed as sold out and a waitlist is maintained for additional entrants. This race is international and requires a valid travel document for entry to Canada; participants should consult border admissibility information for details.
Participants must be at least 14 years old. The field uses a wave start with smaller groups sent off at three minute intervals to reduce early congestion. Starting groups are assigned by the projected pace provided at registration. A Last Chance Pacer will monitor slower runners and travel at the average pace needed to reach the finish within four hours; runners who fall significantly behind may be asked to transfer to follow buses that return to the start and finish area.
The course crosses the Ambassador Bridge and goes through the Detroit Windsor Tunnel, then moves through Downtown and Midtown Detroit before finishing at the foot of Campus Martius. Course layouts are subject to change and a map PDF is available. Pace teams provided by On Pace Race are expected to cover a broad range of goal times, including faster groups and sweepers. An interactive map is available for locating gear check, fluid stations, and other race logistics. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
