Des Moines St. Paddy’s Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K
The Des Moines St. Paddy’s event is a road race held in Des Moines, Iowa each March. It offers multiple distance choices on entirely paved streets and bike trails and identifies the course as flat and fast.

The marathon and half marathon courses carry USATF certification. The event is chip timed and posts results and photos after the race. Pacers are provided for a range of goal times. Packet pickup options include mailed packets for a fee, pre-race pickup at Fleet Feet Des Moines, and limited event morning pickup which may involve a short wait. There is on-site gear check and water stations; half marathon and marathon water stations provide both water and sports drink.
Finish line goods for participants include a 16 oz pint glass, a shamrock sugar cookie, finisher medals for marathon and half marathon participants, and one complimentary beer for those 21 and older with ID. The event supports the Best Buddies charity. Virtual participation is available and mailed gear typically arrives one to four days before race day.
