About the race
The IMT Des Moines Marathon is a multi-distance running event in Des Moines, Iowa, held on October 18, 2026. The event is presented as part of an effort to promote health and community by coordinating local running events and initiatives.

Since 2002 the event has aimed to present a positive image of Des Moines by providing race options for a range of ages. The organizer notes that new courses introduced in 2024 are flat and fast and positioned for Boston qualifying potential. The event program includes finisher medals and runner SWAG and reports spectator support along the route. The IMT Des Moines Marathon has received awards cited as top marathon in the state and top 20 marathons nationally.
