Christmas Hill Training
Christmas Hill Training is a weekly hill session organised by Derwent Runners and based at Derby Rugby Football Club, Haslams Lane, Darley Abbey DE22 1EB. The session is described as similar to a 5 km run but uphill, delivered as interval training that targets speed, strength and stamina.
Sessions offer intervals at a range of paces and are arranged into groups led by a qualified leader. Routes vary; some typical routes are used regularly and, in summer, hill training takes place in Darley Park. One route starts at the Darley Park Drive car park. The organiser notes different route options to suit varying running paces.
New members and guests are asked to provide emergency contact details so organisers can maintain safety during the run. The event is held in person and is part of the Derwent Runners programme of hill and club runs that also includes regular Tuesday club runs.
The description focuses on interval hill work, structured groups with leadership, and a familiar meeting location at Derby Rugby Football Club. The format emphasises repeated uphill efforts to develop speed and stamina rather than a flat or mixed-terrain workout. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
