The Derwent - 60km Trail Ultra
The Derwent is a 60km trail ultra scheduled for Sunday 16 May 2027. The event starts and finishes at Derwent Reservoir near Consett in County Durham and follows a circular route through local countryside.
The course passes through Slaley Forest, Blanchland and surrounding moors, Waskerley Way, Derwent Walk and Muggleswick. Terrain includes woodland trails, open moorland, former railway paths and rural lanes. A route map is available in the event map section and final route details will be released before the event.
Feed stations will be positioned along the route offering a selection of sweet and savoury snacks, hydration and nutrition. Live chip timing will be provided by Timing Up North. The 60km must be completed within the event cut off time, which will be confirmed closer to the date; the event is not intended for participants who plan to walk the full route.
For safety, runners are required to carry mandatory kit. Items listed include a running backpack with fluids, a charged mobile phone with ICE contacts saved, food and energy gels, and a lightweight waterproof jacket. The full mandatory kit list and parking details will be confirmed ahead of the event. Every finisher will receive an event medal, an event T shirt, and drinks and snacks.
