Event details
The course uses rural back roads through the historic countryside of DeRidder, with fence lines, farm scenery and a few railroad tracks along winding sections. Organizers note there is no heavy traffic or red lights on the route and that roads will be secured for a limited time; half marathon walkers are asked to maintain a brisk pace. The race supports Samaritan's Purse Disaster Relief Efforts.
Participation notes and services: children under 13 running the 1 mile fun run must have an adult at the finish to supervise; spectators must stay clear of the road; no pets are allowed. Water, Gatorade and other refreshments will be provided free for participants at the finish. Top male and female placement awards will be given for all three races. All finishers registered by December 2 will receive a t-shirt; registrations after that date receive shirts on a limited basis. Sponsors of $100 or more will be listed on shirts.
