36th Derby Triathlon
The Derby Triathlon takes place at John Port School in Etwall. This multisport event features a format designed to group athletes with similar swimming speeds together. Participation is open to individual competitors, relay teams, and junior athletes between the ages of 15 and 24.
The competition consists of three distinct segments:
- 400m swim in a pool based environment.
- 18km bike course on a mixture of quiet lanes and main roads.
- 5km run on an out and back route.
The swim section utilizes a time trial start where participants enter the water according to their predicted swim times. This arrangement places slower swimmers at the beginning of the morning and faster swimmers toward the end of the field. The cycling portion of the race follows a relatively flat profile. The final running stage is primarily located on a former disused railway track.
The event reached its 36th edition in 2027 and is organized by PMA Racing. Registration is available for various categories, and the entry process concludes several days before the event date on September 11. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
