About the race
Derby Derwent Trail Run is an off-road event held at Elvaston Castle Country Park in Derbyshire. The route starts and finishes within the parkland and passes through Victorian gardens, historic architecture and wide open green space.
Participants can choose from these distances:
- 10.4 km short route
- 14.5 km medium route
- 21.1 km half marathon
The course uses a mix of woodland trails, open parkland and riverside paths, with extended sections alongside the River Derwent. Terrain is predominantly trail and grass with some firm footpaths. Elevation gain varies by distance and reaches up to about 106 m on the longest route.
The route is fully signed using pink arrows and pink tape; hazards and road junctions are marked with caution signs. The event provides chip timing, water stations, course marshals, first aid cover and an event photographer. All finishers receive a medal and timing certificate.
Practical notes include collection of bib numbers at registration and a plastic free policy at water stations, so participants are asked to use a reusable cup or bottle.
