Derby Derwent Trail Run
The Derby Derwent Trail Run is an off road running event held within Elvaston Castle Country Park in Derbyshire. The event starts and finishes inside the parkland and uses trails that pass through Victorian gardens, historic architecture and wide open green space.
Distances offered:
- 21.1k Half Marathon
- 14.5k Trail run
- 10.4k Trail run
Routes run over a mix of woodland trails, open parkland and riverside paths, with extended sections alongside the River Derwent. The course features tree lined avenues and more open stretches that allow steady running. Underfoot surfaces are predominantly trail and grass with some firm footpaths. Elevation gain varies by distance: approximately +106m for the 21.1k, +79m for the 14.5k and +53m for the 10.4k.
The route is fully marked using coloured arrows and tape and is supported by on course marshals. Event services listed for entrants include chip timing, water stations, first aid, finisher goodies, a finisher medal and a personalised certificate. GPX route files are provided for each distance. The event notes a plastic free approach and asks participants to bring a reusable cup or bottle for water stations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
