Défi Gendarme de fer
Le Défi Gendarme de fer is a trail and obstacle race in Quebec presented in collaboration with the Gendarmerie royale du Canada and the Fondation de la recherche pédiatrique. The event takes place in Québec on 26 September 2026 and in Montréal on 17 October 2026. It combines elements of police training with running and on-course obstacles.
Distances offered:
- 1 km children's run with obstacles
- 2.5 km with obstacles
- 5 km with obstacles
- 10 km with obstacles
- 10 km elite wave with obstacles
Participation formats include solo entries, teams of 2 to 10 people (team time is the team average), and corporate or partner teams with visibility options. A personal timing chip is used to record precise times. Race categories allow competition for the top three places in several solo and team categories, including the elite wave. The elite wave features an isolated start to reduce waits at obstacles and a professional action photo for each elite runner; past elite competitors have included athletes associated with GTI, the Gendarmerie royale du Canada, and Movex Training.
The event supports pediatric research. At the time shown, $60,836 has been raised toward a $250,000 goal. A preparatory Strava challenge runs from 4 May to 18 October, with weekly prizes provided by Ciele for the participant with the most active minutes.
