Défi du printemps Rouge et Or
The Défi du printemps Rouge et Or is a running event organized by the Rouge et Or Athletics Club. The 18th edition takes place on April 12, 2026, at the Stade Telus - Université Laval in Quebec City. This event holds a silver sanction from the Fédération Québécoise d'athlétisme. Participation helps fund scholarships for student athletes across the Rouge et Or sports programs.
The event offers two main distances on road courses:
- 1 km (specifically for children)
- 5 km (divided into two waves based on estimated finish time: under 25 minutes or over 25 minutes)
Streets are closed to vehicle traffic during the races to ensure participant safety. A medical emergency plan is in place, featuring a first aid tent near the start line and a dedicated medical vehicle. In accordance with Athletics Canada and World Athletics standards, the official event time used for rankings is the "Gun Time," measured from the starting signal to the crossing of the finish line.
Participants can use the locker rooms and showers at the PEPS by showing their race bib. Bib collection is organized on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning at the PEPS entrance near the ticket office. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each age category. Outdoor parking at the PEPS is free of charge on weekends for participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
