Défi des Escaliers

Défi des Escaliers is an urban running and walking event in Quebec City that takes participants up and down the staircases linking Lower Town and Upper Town. The start area is at Place de l’Assemblée-Nationale and the finish is at Parc de l’Esplanade. On-site signage and instructions from volunteers or police take precedence.

Offered distances include:

• 19 km Fizz : about forty staircases, 2353 steps
• 14 km : about thirty staircases, 2163 steps
• 9 km : about twenty staircases, 1106 steps
• 4 km : 13 staircases, 520 steps
• 2 km for youth : ages 5 to 12, start on avenue Sainte-Geneviève

The event holds an ARGENT sanction from Athlétisme Québec. For each distance, GPX files, maps and route description tables are provided as indicative information.
