Defenders of Mental Health 5K : Savannah, GA
The 5th annual Avenger Foundation Mental Health Awareness 5K takes place on September 19, 2026, at 275 Berwick Blvd., Savannah, GA. The event features a 5K run, walk or ruck and a separate free kids run.

Registration tiers are listed by date: early bird Jan 1–Feb 16 ($40), open Feb 17–Sept 4 ($50), and late Sept 5–19 ($55). Virtual registration closes Sept 4. Registrants who register by Sept 4 are guaranteed a commemorative item and must pick up their items by race day to receive them.
Ruck participants must meet weight requirements: 25 lb dry weight minimum for participants 5'4" and below, and 35 lb dry weight minimum for participants 5'5" and above.
On-site participant features include themed dress (superhero, first responder, military, or faith-inspired defender), a shield wall photo station, an Armor Up station distributing wristbands or stickers representing Faith, Hope, Courage and Strength, and a Prayer Shield Wall where names or intentions are posted and prayed over by volunteers.
Included items and awards noted for qualifying registrants are a special edition 5th anniversary coin, t-shirt or tank, swag bag, prizes including a free pair of shoes for top finishers and rucker, gift cards for 2nd and 3rd places, age group awards, certificates, and a winners package for the kids run.
The nonprofit foundation was established in 2022 in memory of a 20-year Army veteran. Proceeds support families in the military, first responders, and youth communities, provide athlete scholarships, and fund community education and recovery efforts related to mental health.
