Event Overview
The Deer Park Goes Pink 5K is a charity running and walking event. This will be its tenth annual edition. The event takes place in Newark, Delaware, starting and finishing from 108 West Main Street.
The event offers multiple activities:
- Deer Park Goes Pink 5K - a timed 5 km race.
- Deer Park Goes Pink 1 Mile Fun Walk - an untimed walk.
- Post Race Celebration Only - an entry option for the party after the race.
Charity Details
The event raises funds for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC). The organizers state that 100% of the proceeds from the 5K run/walk are donated directly to the DBCC. There is also an award for the team that raises the most money.
Event Schedule and Amenities
Packet pickup is available on the morning of the event. There is also a pre-event packet pickup with live music and drink specials on the Wednesday prior. The post-race party includes a buffet, live music, and beverages for participants aged 21 and over. All race participants receive an event T-shirt.
Awards
Awards are given in several categories. Overall and masters winners receive gift cards. The top three male and female finishers in each age group (from 13 & Under to 70+) receive awards. Additional team awards are given for the largest team and the team that raises the most money.
Practical Information
Parking is not available in the Deer Park lot. Metered street parking is limited, and participants are strongly advised to use a nearby University of Delaware parking garage.
