Deer Dash 5K - Event
The Deer Dash 5K takes place on May 9, 2026 in New Market, Maryland. The event center is at Deer Crossing Elementary School, 10601 Finn Drive, New Market, MD 21774. Distances offered include:

- 1-mile Fun Run
The 5K is chip-timed and runs through the Summerfield neighborhood of Lake Linganore, starting and finishing at Deer Crossing Elementary School. The 1-mile Fun Run is a non-timed event held on the recess grounds behind the school. The race is produced by the Deer Crossing Elementary PTA and is intended to raise money for school improvements and programs that support DCES staff and children. All finishers receive a finisher ribbon.
Registration, fees and awards
Registration opens January 26, 2026. Standard pricing for the timed 5K is $20, with an early bird price of $18 until March 27. The Fun Run and DCES staff entries are listed at $10. An optional race shirt is available for $16; ordering by April 1 guarantees size selection. Families may donate at least $50 to have a family name printed on the race shirt; April 1 is the deadline for sponsor names to appear on the shirt. Awards are presented at the finish line and include overall male and female champions, top three finishers by grade divisions from PreK/Kindergarten through Middle School, first high school male and female, and first DCES staff finisher.
