Event overview
The Deer Dash 5K takes place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in New Market, MD. The event is produced by the Deer Crossing Elementary PTA and raises money for school improvements and programs that support the staff and children at Deer Crossing Elementary School. The course is a chip-timed 5K through the Summerfield neighborhood of Lake Linganore, with the start and finish at Deer Crossing Elementary. A non-timed 1-mile Fun Run takes place on the recess grounds behind the school. All finishers receive a finisher ribbon. Awards include overall male and female champions, top three for each grade group (PreK/Kindergarten through Middle School), first-place high school finishers, and first-place DCES staff finisher.

Registration opens January 26, 2026. Published fees include a timed 5K at $20 with an early-bird price of $18 until March 27, a Fun Run entry at $10, and a DCES staff rate of $10. Optional race shirts are $16; ordering by April 1 guarantees size selection. Limited race shirts will be available on race day. A family sponsorship option is available for donations of at least $50 to have a family name printed on the race t-shirt; sponsor names must be submitted by April 1 to appear on the shirt.
