Death Valley Borax Marathon, Half Marathon, & 10K
The event takes place on January 30, 2027 at Death Valley National Park in Furnace Creek on the Westside Road in the Badwater Basin. The National Park Service has permitted use of the northern end of Westside Road for the races.

The half marathon and 10K are single out-and-back courses. The marathon runs the same route twice. The turnaround point is within a few miles of the lowest point in North America at -282 feet and lies below Telescope Peak, which rises to 11,043 feet. The lowest elevation on the course is -265 feet and the start and finish are essentially at sea level.
The course is a single track on Westside Road. Aid stations are located at approximately miles 3, 6.5, 10, 13, 16, 19.5, and 23 on the marathon course and are stocked with water, lemonade, sports bars, and varied snacks. Energy gels will not be provided and wrappers must be disposed of at aid stations. No private support is allowed. Portable toilets are available at the start/finish and at the same aid station locations.
The field is limited to 250 total participants by park rules. Course cut-off time is six hours, with listed pace guidelines for marathon and half marathon entrants. Bib pickup occurs on race morning and final race-day details are emailed to registered participants. Parking is available at the Oasis Resort at Furnace Creek and buses will shuttle participants between Furnace Creek Ranch and the race start as needed.
T-shirts are provided to all participants. Finisher medals are awarded for the marathon and half marathon; awards and ribbons are given by age group. Proceeds benefit Beatty High School student organizations and the event partners include the Death Valley Natural History Association. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
