Death Valley Borax Marathon, Half Marathon, & 10K
The event takes place January 30, 2027 in Death Valley National Park near Furnace Creek and the Badwater Basin. It is the 29th annual running of these distances and is permitted by the National Park Service to use the northern end of Westside Road.

The half marathon and 10K are single out-and-back courses on Westside Road; the marathon covers the same route twice. The turnaround is within a few miles of the Badwater Basin lowest point at -282 feet. The lowest point on the course is -265 feet and the start and finish are essentially at sea level. Runners face Telescope Peak at the start and return toward the Artist’s Palette at the finish.
The event is limited to 250 total participants due to National Park Service rules. The course cut-off time is 6 hours, with required paces of 13:45 min/mile for marathoners and 27:30 min/mile for half marathoners. Aid stations are located at approximately miles 3, 6.5, 10, 13, 16, 19.5, and 23 on the marathon course and provide water, lemonade, sports bars, and snacks. Energy gels will not be supplied at aid stations; participants must not accept private aid on course and should dispose of wrappers at aid stations. Portable toilets are available at the start/finish and at the same aid station locations.
All entrants receive a T-shirt. Finisher medals are awarded for the marathon and half marathon. Age group plaques and ribbons are presented to top finishers. Bib pickup occurs on race morning during Athlete Check-in and additional race day details are provided to registered participants before the event.
Registrations are 100% non-refundable and non-transferable; a credit toward a future race may be issued under the event's stated refund and rollover conditions. Parking is available at the Oasis Resort at Furnace Creek. Buses will shuttle participants between Furnace Creek Ranch and the race start; return shuttles run at demand based intervals.
