Deafinitely Not Different 5k and Fun Run
The Deafinitely Not Different 5k and Fun Run is a community run/walk held at Vines High School in Plano, Texas. The event marks its tenth year and includes three options: the Deafinitely Not Different 5k, a Fun Run, and a Virtual Run. Proceeds benefit students who attend the Plano Regional Day School Program for the Deaf.
Funds support a range of student activities and resources across the school year. Examples given include providing meals so families can attend an Information Fair, funding preschool field trips to expand vocabulary through real life experiences, covering entry fees for teen competitions, purchasing books for middle school Battle of the Books, and supplying extra learning materials for students and families. The program serves over 500 families in Collin County, Richardson, and Coppell.
Event details note that a race shirt is included with registration and that volunteers also receive shirts while supplies last. Shirt color plans are described for participants, parents, and volunteers. Packet pickup is scheduled for the evenings of March 26 and March 27 at a to be determined location. Parking is available at the school administration building and on the east side of Vines High School, and the Fun Run takes place on the west side of the campus. Day of registration is permitted but shirt sizes may not be guaranteed. The event proceeds regardless of weather.
