Dead Last Ultra at Waters Farm
Dead Last Ultra is a backyard ultramarathon and festival weekend at Waters Farm in Sutton, Massachusetts on October 24, 2026. The race uses a simple format: runners complete one 4.167 mile loop every hour, on the bell, and continue until only one runner remains.
The loop runs across pasture, woodland, and farm road on a 120 acre historic property that overlooks Lake Manchaug. About half the loop is wooded trail, including sections along the lake, and about half is open pasture. The farm is a living history site with a long family history and public farm features.
The weekend includes community activities while the running continues through the night. Scheduled features include live music, hay rides on tractors, live farm animals on the grounds, farm tours, and local food trucks and a farm store open throughout the weekend. A kids fun run uses a short quarter mile loop where children ring the cowbell and earn an Out to Pasture Junior patch.
Field size is limited to 150 runners and registration is open on a first come, first served basis. Entry fee is listed as $125 and includes crew access, a finisher tee, and the full festival weekend. The last runner receives a single handmade buckle called The Brand; other finishers receive the event shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
