David Staff Memorial Fell Race
The David Staff Memorial Fell Race is a Category AS fell event around the West Pennine Moors above Darwen, Lancashire. The course distance is 6 km with 305 m of climb and combines moorland ridges and woodland paths. Registration is based at The Kiosk in Sunnyhurst Woods and the course starts on the main path opposite The Kiosk. The route turns left at the bandstand, leaves the wood via the Lychgate carpark next to the Sunnyhurst pub, then proceeds right to Waterman's Cottage and left up a concrete path toward Darwen Tower before looping across the moors.
The descent returns along the same line into the woods via the pub, with the finish at the bandstand. The event has a minimum age of 14 years and runs under fell-racing category AS rules. Entry fees are listed separately for FRA members and non-members.
The race is held in memory of David Staff and raises funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young to support heart screening for young people. Fundraising linked to the event and its supporters has helped identify heart defects in more than 60 people and has raised over £100,000 since David's death. The organiser maintains standard event terms and refund policies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
