Dave’s Run for ALS

Dave’s Run for ALS is a community event held at Curtis Park in Tucson, Arizona. The event serves runners and walkers of various abilities and supports ALS research through the Jim Himelic Foundation. Named in honor of David Filer, a local runner and business owner, the race contributes to funds for research conducted at the University of Arizona.

Participants can choose from several distance options:

  • 8K
  • 5K
  • FitKidz Mile (for ages 12 and under)
  • Dave's Double (participation in both the 8K and 5K)

The 8K race is a featured event in The Running Shop SAR Grand Prix series. All participants in the 8K, 5K, and Dave's Double receive a finisher medal and a shirt while supplies last. Snacks and drinks are provided for all attendees.

Awards are presented to the top three overall male, female, and non-binary finishers in both the 8K and 5K. Additionally, prizes are awarded to the top masters and the top three finishers in five-year age groups up to 80+. Those who complete Dave's Double receive a special prize. There is also a prize for the largest pre-registered team.

The event provides on-site parking at the west side of Curtis Park. Packet pickup is available the day before the race at a local running shop or at the event site on the morning of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
