DASH for Detection

The DASH for Detection is the 15th annual family-friendly 5K walk and run held at Montrose Harbor in Chicago. The event raises funds for pancreatic cancer early-detection research and combines a scenic lakefront 5K course with on-site family activities and post-event festivities.

The event includes both an in-person 5K at Montrose Harbor and a virtual DASH option that can be completed anywhere during June by running, walking, biking, hiking, or swimming. Participants can form teams or participate solo, and the event provides fundraising tools and sponsorship opportunities to support research efforts. The previous year raised more than $225,000 and the listed goal for this year is $250,000.

On-site offerings include food trucks and snacks, face painting and temporary tattoos, sensory activities, bubbles and crafts, live music, and other family-oriented programming. All DASH courses are wheelchair and stroller accessible. Dogs are not allowed for safety reasons. The event materials mention packet pickup, parking and transport information, and various sponsorship levels for organizations that wish to participate.
