Event Overview
The Dash for Dementia is a community sports event held at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse in Plattsburgh, New York. This inaugural event is hosted by UFirst FCU to support individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's and related dementias. Proceeds from the race benefit the Third Age Adult Day Center at SUNY Plattsburgh, which provides programming and respite services for the local community.
Distance and Participation
The event features a single primary distance, with the possibility of additional options based on participant interest:
- 5 km Run/Walk
The course is open to participants of all ages and abilities. Both timed and untimed runners and walkers are welcome to participate. Registered participants receive an official event t-shirt, provided registration is completed before the specified shirt deadline.
Location and Logistics
The race takes place at 165 Rugar Street. On-site amenities include food and refreshments provided by the Dog Father Food Truck and the High Peaks Brew Coffee cart. The organizers are also developing a competition for college and community groups, which includes team registration and fundraising challenges.
