12th Annual Dash Around the Lake
The Dash Around the Lake is a 5K event held on June 13, 2026 at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake (Mundelein Seminary), 697 N Lake Street, Mundelein, IL. The event includes in-person and virtual 5K options and a shirt-only purchase option. Race day registration is available.
The course has returned to a full loop around the lake after bridge repairs and has been measured to USATF guidelines. All participants receive timing chip bibs. The event features age awards and medals, online results, and a custom-designed T-shirt. A post-race pizza gathering is planned at Mickey Finns in Libertyville.
Registration opens March 30, 2026 and most race registration closes June 12, 2026; the shirt-only option closes June 5, 2026. Published fees include adult and virtual entries at $35, youth entries (age 7 to current-year high school graduates) at $20, age 6 and under at no charge, and shirt-only at $15.
The 5K is organized by the Knights of Columbus Libertyville Council 3674. Funds raised support the St. Joseph youth group Appalachian Trip, local food pantries, and several Lake County charities, including A Safe Place, Fill A Heart for Kids, Habitat for Humanity, Lambs Farm, The Dennis Mudd Foundation, Merci Home for Boys and Girls, Misericordia 4874, NAMI Lake County, Salute Inc., and SEDOL Food Pantry. Parking is on campus; organizers ask attendees to use the RT 45 (697 Lake Street) entrance because the RT 176 entrance will be closed. Maps are being updated.
