Dartmoor Winter Traverse
Climb South West runs the Dartmoor Winter Traverse, a fully supported winter challenge on Dartmoor in February. Participants can choose a 50 km South-to-North route or a 30 km Princetown-to-Meldon option, open to runners and walkers. The course traverses remote moorland, passing Red Lake and the sources of the Erme and Plym rivers, with wet feet likely.
After a welcome break in Princetown, it continues to North Moor locations such as Roos Tor, Tavy Cleave and Chat Tor, then follows the dismantled Rattlebrook railway to Meldon. The route is largely unmarked, weather-dependent, and treated as a challenge rather than a race; mountain leaders and guides provide navigation and first aid.
