Darter Dash
Darter Dash is a trail running event held at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve in Pinson, AL, organized by the Birmingham Ultra Trail Society and Turkey Creek Nature Preserve. The event offers two distances:
- 10k
- 5K
The courses run on preserve trails that include moderate elevation changes and several stretches beside Turkey Creek. A short portion of both courses runs on pavement. The field is limited this year, with a cap of 125 participants combined across the 5k and 10k.
Registration opens on April 1, 2026 at 12:00 AM CT. There is no race day registration. Packet pickup is available on the morning of September 26 starting at 7:00 AM.
At the finish area there is an optional Splash Challenge that involves tubing down the waterfall. Post-race provisions include water at the finish area and a pancake breakfast that will include mimosas. A brief award ceremony will recognize top finishers in multiple age categories, and participants will be entered into sponsor giveaways.
All proceeds from the event are designated to fund educational programs at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
