Event Details
The Dam Good Run offers a 5K and a 10K race. Both distances start and finish at West Park on 3rd Street, near the Oregon side of the McNary Dam.
Course Information
The 5K is an out-and-back route. Runners head east up a hill toward the McNary Dam, travel partway across the dam, turn around, and return downhill to West Park.
The 10K follows the same initial route to the dam and back. After returning to the Fish Viewing Room, runners continue north toward the Columbia River and loop through clearly marked Nature Trails. There is one aid station on the 10K course.
A unique feature of the race is the opportunity to run on top of the McNary Dam, an area normally closed to the public. Photos are not permitted on top of the dam. Walkers in the 10K must be able to finish within two hours.
Registration and Participants
Chip timing is provided by Eastern Oregon Sports Training, with results available online immediately after finishing. Participants who register by a specific date in April will receive a short-sleeved race T-shirt. Children aged 13 and under can register for free and receive a bib with chip timing and official results.
An awards ceremony is held after the races. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each race. Water, fruit, and post-race snacks are provided for all participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
