Dam Good Run
The Dam Good Run offers timed 5K and 10K courses that start and finish at West Park in McNary, Oregon. The route provides public access onto the top of McNary Dam for part of the course and views of the Columbia River. Timing is chip based, provided by Eastern Oregon Sports Training, and results are posted online after finishing.
The event includes a free kids race for ages 13 and under; those children receive an official bib with chip timing and recorded results. Registered participants who sign up by April 26, 2026 will receive a short-sleeved event T-shirt; additional shirts are ordered but not guaranteed for later registrations. Medals are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers in each race. Water, fruit, and post-race snacks are provided to participants.
Course specifics:
- 5K out-and-back route, turns around about halfway across the dam
- 10K follows the 5K route then continues north to the Columbia River and loops through marked nature trails
- Kids run free for ages 13 and under
The 10K includes mixed surfaces such as pavement, bark, gravel, and a rocky section; strollers are not advised on the 10K. One aid station with water is located around the 3.5-mile mark. Photos on top of the dam are not permitted. Walkers in the 10K must be able to finish within the event time limit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
